Kerrea Gilbert loaned to Southend for six months

The club has released this statement regarding Kerrea Gilbert.

"Defender Kerrea Gilbert has today joined Southend United on loan for a six month spell.

"Gilbert (20) spent last season on loan at Cardiff City, making 26 appearances for the Championships side. Prior to his spell with Cardiff, Kerrea made nine first team appearances in 2005/06 across all competitions and 16 Reserve team appearances.

"Everyone at Arsenal FC would like to wish Kerrea the best of luck for his time with Southend."

His appearance in the Barnet game after several months away at Cardiff City, followed by a notable exclusion from the Emirates Cup and this announcement immediately after - suggests all is not well. I rate him highly, however with Bakary Sagna, Eboue and Hoyte all ahead of him in the current setup, it is understandable if he sees his opportunities are going to be limited.
