Madrid miss out on Reyes..........

Add to Technorati Favorites

Arsenal late tonight concluded one of the longest running sagas by transferring Reyes to Spain, the move he had always wanted, Arsenal gain very much by closing that chapter, Reyes gains a sun-tan, and Madrid loose a cheap but very good player.

In a move that I consider a very poignant message to Real Madrid. Arsenal have effectively flipped Calderon the bird and sold Reyes to Athletico Madrid....lets hope Reyes can score the winning goals this time for Athletico Madrid in the Madrid derby, I'd love it if it came back to bite them in their arses.....

The Spanish international, 23, joined Arsenal from La Liga side Sevilla on January 29, 2004. He made his debut in a Premiership game against Manchester City at Highbury just three days later. Reyes was also part of the Arsenal squad which completed an unbeaten title campaign in 2003/04 and went on to set a league of 49 games without defeat. He made a total of 110 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 23 goals.
