Connolly and Djourou go on loan...

Sorry, I was away for the last few days and so missed out on a few transfers in the Arsenal setup. It seems that Ryan Garry signed for Bournemouth, Matthew Connolly will go out to Colchester on a season long loan deal and Djourou will after some deliberation go out to Birmingham on loan till January. The last of these two moves leave us a tad light at centre-back, however we are able to employ Hoyte or Eboue at right-back allowing the impressive Sagna to provide cover for Toure, Ballas, and Senderos.

Interestingly Wenger also ruled out any further buys unless something crops up they are not actively seeking to sign anyone. So has someone he was tracking been sold (i.e. Royston Drenthe)? Experience tells me this move might also be to call the bluff of a selling team due to the asking price.

In other news Wenger reckons that the title run-in will include 5 teams...but not Tottenham!

Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool. The order is debatable but the common consensus is that the so-called 'Big Four' will occupy the top four places at the end of the Premiership campaign.

Everton are the only club to break that quartet's stranglehold in the past four seasons but the Arsenal manager expects at least one new face in the title race this time around.

"I expect more than four teams in it because many of the clubs have bought big players," said Wenger. "Some of them will not be successful in doing it. But one of them will be.

"Will it be West Ham, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Newcastle? All of these clubs who were not in the top four have bought. If one of these clicks it will
click."
