Arsenal’s Abou Diaby has declared that he will start to think about a move if he continues to warm the bench.
Clearly in need of games, Diaby has taken a note out of his friend and teammate Lassana Diarra, by having a little moan about first team opportunities. However with the large number of games comming up in the league and with the manager likely to chop an change in the Champions league there should be opportunities for all.
France international Diaby moved to North London in January 2006, having impressed scout Gilles Grimandi while playing for Auxerre.
The athletic midfielder made an instant impression in The Premier League and was called up by Raymond Domenech with Les Bleus.
But his lack of action has seen him sent down to the France Under-21 team for next weekend’s game and he is not happy with his present situation.
The 21-year-old says he will not push for a January transfer, but will consider a summer exit if he fails to secure a regular start.
“This time I have not been called up by France and I do not play that much for Arsenal,” Diaby told football365.fr.
“I need playing time. I thought that I would continue [to play] after I scored (against Derby County) but it did not happen.
“I remain patient and do not give up because I know that my chance will come.
“Arsenal’s team is doing well so I have to show patience and it will be unlocked then. I do not regret my choices. Those things happen.
“The situation is like this today but it can change tomorrow. The players that are on the pitch are not automatically better than those who are on the bench, but they do their job very well.
“The season is long so I do not plan a move yet. Maybe later if it continues, but not in January.
“Last year was difficult because I returned from a grave injury but this year I still want to pass a stage. I am not playing but I do not think that it will last until the end of the season.
“I would have loved to play for Les Bleus again but I knew that returning with the Uder-21 squad is part of the game.
“For sure playing Euro 2008 is part of my objectives. I would be disappointed if I did not play in it. But I am young and other competitions will take place.”

Bugger off - no way is Diaby leavin' the goooners.
Diaby is quality and AW rates him very very highly
Still we have a wealth of talent in midfield. And he is only 20..ffs
Diaby will get his chance, there are many games coming up with plenty of opportunity for the B-side.
The proof will be how well he performs on the pitch, his last couple of performances have been below par.
He's a great player sometimes and has huge potential, but lets face it we already have so many central midfielders. One two or even three need to go to get the right balance there. I suppose Fabregas is the only CM who nobody would want to sell of our current squad, but really some have to go, as sad as it is. Gilberto is much older tan the rest (which can be positive if you want it to be), Flamini is famous for being a brilliant worker, but a bit less gifted than our other CMs, Diaby has huge potential but is inconsistent with it, Denilson is a mix between all of the previously said attribute-wise and could potentially be seen by Wenger as being like Flamini, where he could be great at everything, but not superb at either of the central positions (not that I would necessarily go along with that), Diarra is great but very small however he was only just bought so it's unlikely he would get sold so quickly. Basically I think we can expect to see any combination of two or three of Diaby Flamini and Gilberto go over the coming year. My personal choice would be to sell Diaby, Gilberto and Song leaving Fabregas Flamini Diarra Denilson and any up and coming youngsters to fight for any new squad spaces.
At least if nothing else we should be able to get some decent money for selling the three suggested above (my estimate would be Berty £8 mil, Diaby £6 mil Song £3.5 mil) and we'd still not need to replace anyone with the money because we already still have enough players.
You have to consider that Diaby is our only tall and 'big' central midfielder (giving us a physical presence and aerial cover). He also is a proper box-to-box type of player.
I personally like him and would be very surprised if he was sold.
Song is a going to be a Center Back, and was no way good enough to play CM.
I suppose time will tell, I think you are correct to say we will sell someone, but once Gilberto goes, then we will see who else is surplus.
